Events view upgrades—more filters, new filters, filters everywhere!

Previously, the primary filters in AM.NET’s Event View did not match the filters in AM4’s Event Summary. Users relied on setting the primary filter and then refining their search through the grid filter row.

Unlike AM4, however, the filter row does not allow you to select multiple values. For example, you could either view events for all companies or you could use the filter row to view events for one selected company. You could not, however, view events for two selected companies as you could in AM4.

So, we added a solution. AM.NET’s event view now contains the same primary filters as AM4’s Event Summary. To see the new filters, expand the Events View Explorer by either dragging the splitter to the right or by double-clicking the splitter.

The Events View Explorer reveals additional filters.

We also added a third filter option to the Events View: the Filter Editor. The Filter Editor allows you to add specific secondary filters to the event view in addition to the filter row. To use the Filter Editor:

Select the field by which you want to filter.

Select the filter condition.

Finally, select the value to match.

To add criteria, click Add Criteria and select an operator to join the conditions.

NOTE
The visibility of the Filter Editor is based on a system parameter and is NOT visible by default. If you would like it turned on, please contact Steve.

These enhancements will be available when your society receives the latest release 28 hotfix.

Grids in AM.NET

Sorting

We’ve already written a lot about all of the things you can do with grids in AM.NET. But here’s a feature you may not know: you can sort on multiple grid columns.

Let’s say you want to sort by member type, and then by index name. First, click the column header of the Member Status column, then hold down the Shift key and click the Index Name column. AM.NET sorts the data by member status and then by index name. You can do this for as many columns as you like; just hold down the Shift key while selecting each sort column.

Saving column layouts

Many of you told us you love the grids in AM.NET, but that it would be great if you could save the current column configuration once you rearrange the columns. Good news! We will be rolling this feature out in release 28 for all views in AM.NET. Once you arrange column on a grid, AM.NET sill save this configuration for each user.

Coming up next…

We have several things in the works so this might be a good time to bring everyone up to speed on what’s next in the near future.

Dashboards. The first iteration of dashboards will be available in release 28. Keep in mind that this will be a beta version and mainly for demonstration purposes.

Documentation. Kelly is working hard on documentation and it will be available soon.

Grids. I mentioned in last week’s post that users will soon be able to save grid layouts. This will be available in release 28 on a limited scale. We will expand options for saving grid configurations in later releases.

Summary tab. We are in the planning stages of adding a summary tab—a snapshot of a record’s key information. This is not slated for a specific release yet.

Web site. At some point in the near future, we plan to overhaul our current Web site.

Custom reports. We are working on custom reports and hope to have most of them in AM.NET in the next few releases.
